H10 Playa Meloneras Palace, Gran Canaria

I almost don't want to review this hotel as it may encourage more people to come! We absolutely love everything about this hotel, and have returned year after year. The welcome we receive from the staff make us feel like we have come home. The hotel must be doing something right as the staff remain the same year after year too. A special mention to Africa, Susanna, and Marta in the restaurants, and Gauci who looked after our room. They are a credit to the hotel. We look forward to another wonderful stay in March.....can't wait !

Great hotel with good amenities, the only negative is the lack of Entertainment. What we saw was at best very average and one dreadful, I'm sure they can improve this as we needed to go to other hotels for entertainment. Very good areas around pools.

We have not long returned from yet another lovely holiday at the H10 Meloneras. We go to this hotel a lot as it is usually excellent, tranquil and in a nice relaxing area. Whilst overall the stay was good we experienced some annoying procedures. Booking In When we arrived on 5th November we had to wait for at least 45 minutes to book in as there were only 2 members of staff on and there was quite a long queue in front of us. Our flight was 30 minutes late on take off and we had to wait for another 30 minutes till the coach leaving the airport finally left and there was then a further 30 minute delay due to a motorway hold up. We were told that the queue is long due to everybody arriving late. I can understand that but surely the staff could have been increased or a member of staff sitting across from the newly lay out Reception could have come over to help. There was a 3rd receptionist there but she was a new start and couldnt do anything. The Manager (?) walked passed a few times but kept on walking. Our Jet2 rep helped a lot as no one else at Reception gave us much information. We were told to have a drink whilst waiting but the drinks on offer were effectively empty and didnt get replenished. Another couple were on All Inclusive but the barman refused to serve them as they hadnt booked in. We have been to many hotels over the years and have never had to wait that long. We then had to wait another 30 mins before the cases arrived in our room. Breakfast We went to the Gaudi every day with mixed experiences. Some mornings were perfect others were not so good with missed coffee orders and then 3 orders coming along within 5 minutes on other days. Staff seemed to be wandering around looking for the table which they were meant to deliver to, but couldnt find it. Would a table number not help ? The food, when you finally got it, was very good but the staff kept changing. We werent told that we had to book breakfast initially but even after then doing that things were no better. Privilege We went on Privilege but only half board. A few years back the only Privilege lounge was just down from the Brasserie which was good as we have always liked to go to that area to sit at the pool, but when the new area opened it was far better especially as your room was close but this year I noticed that the old room was now clearly marked as Privilege and underneath it was All Inclusive too. After a day or so I got fed up walking all the way back to the 4th floor and tried to get into the previous room but my card came up red, not allowing me entry. I asked at Reception and they couldnt explain why not so I went to the Guest Service and was advised that as I was only Half Board I wasnt eligible for that service. Can someone please explain the logic behind that ? From what was on offer, on looking through the front door, was similar to what you would get on the 4th floor, mainly crisps and drinks. Why on earth couldnt a half board person get that too ? and thus avoid another 5 minute walk. I am a newspaper reader first thing in the morning and went to the shop every morning to get the paper. However after about 5 days the young girl at the desk had changed and the new one said I didnt need to pay for the paper as it was part of the Privilege package. She told me she could see my wrist band and didnt ask for the payment. I had a variety of T shirts on but none hid the wrist band so why did the other girl take my money ? When I walked past Reception I asked them why nobody told me this and the lady said oh, its on the XX leaflet and then checked and found it wasnt then it was possibly on another leaflet but again it wasnt. Im sorry but these are the small but annoying things that guests shouldnt have to experience in a long standing hotel, especially as being part of a large group. Management seem to be setting up procedures and then not advising the staff. From my business experience, Communication is vital.

We have just returned from a fabulous 8 night stay in the H10 Playa Meloneras. We stayed in a Superior Deluxe room and had a wonderful view of the sea and pool area. The whole hotel exceeded our expectations. Spotlessly clean and very friendly staff. The room was extremely comfortable with everything supplied that you could wish for and we even had chocolates left in the room on several occasions. The food was amazing with so many choices and such a high standard. The pool areas were large and there was never a problem in finding a sunbed. We would have no hesitation in recommending this lovely hotel to everyone.
