Ocean Coral & Turquesa El Beso, Riviera Maya

This was our first stay at the El Beso adults section Ocean Coral. First impression of the resortits nice. The resort is big but not overwhelming. All the restaurants and buffet are centrally located and the walk from our room (el beso adult section) was no more than a couple minutes. Check in was made quick and easy by the staff. . I have to say that the entire resort employs fantastic people. You have 3 pools plus a kids pool and the beach is easily accessible. The sand is soft and walkable in either direction..although heading south towards Puerto Morelos is more scenic. The only downside is the water isnt clear blue like the Playa del Carmen area. The water was dark and murky which wasnt as inviting as previous trips further down the coast. Lets talk about the important stuff. . The food was good but the Buffet was the same pretty much every time we ate there. There was only one station making Mexican dishes, which would only be one type of dish for that day/night. The bad news about the la carte restaurants .is the reservation process. Good luck booking a time. Their booking system is terrible. At 10:00am sharp you go online and pick a restaurant you want (day of only). The time slots appear which are limited and you pick it and wait to see if it gets approved. If you wait 2 minutes past the hour then you will probably see 5:00pm or 9:00pm to choose. Any time we ate at a restaurant there were plenty of empty tables but Im guessing, not enough staff to allow for more reservations. The servers are some of the best Ive encountered in all the trips over decades. The adults only section is nice. The pool is a decent size, with a restaurant just steps away. There isnt a swim up bar but the restaurant has an area to get drinks. Theres only one waiter covering the beach and poolside, so sometimes you may wait for a drink. . His name is Ricardo and Ive never seen an individual hustle so hard, all day. Sun loungers are limited at this pool, so I advise you to wake up early. By 6:00-6:30am most of them are claimed with towels. I was down at 5:45am a few days and more than half of the loungers were taken. . Crazy right? This Hotel is clean and well maintained but would I stay again? Not anytime soon. I believe its rated a 4.5/5 star resort but I wouldnt go over a 4. One thing I can say is that the staff are exceptionally friendly and welcoming. If the price is right, you wont be disappointed.

Not long back from an amazing 2 weeks in Mexico. I can genuinely say this is the best holiday we have had in years! The hotel was fantastic and had something for all the family (15, 12 & 5 year old kids included). From check in to check out the staff were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. On check in we didn’t have adjoining rooms as requested however the staff soon fixed that and put us in rooms next door to each other which was peace of mind to have the older kids in the next room. We spent virtually the whole holiday around the daisy club pool due to the little one. There was plenty of sun beds available with shade each day. The staff at the daisy club bar were brilliant and a special shout out to the daisy club girls who were amazing with our little one. So much so he kept asking to go back in each day (which was great to get him out the midday sun). The whole hotel was exceptionally clean and the rooms were of a good standard. A few tired bit in the rooms but nothing that was to worry about. Food in the hotel was great and there was a varied menu. Booking a table through the app was also really easy to do. All in all a fantastic holiday at an amazing hotel. I’m sure we’ll be back at some point but there’s lots of other places in the world to visit first!

It took us 21 hours to get here from the UK but it was worth it. The room is spacious and has everything you need including efficient air conditioning which is essential. The food has been fabulous, the only restaurant which lets the hotel down is Route 66. The restaurant was hot, the service awful and my food - beef brisket was inedible - I am pretty sure it was pork not beef! The Italian, Brazilian and blue moon were all excellent and the buffet had an amazing choice of quality food every day. I must say a special shout out to Maggie in the buffet restaurant who looked after us brilliantly, always with a smile and advice about how spicy things were as my husband loves spice! And to Edalia who brought us endless drinks on the beach with a smile. Thank you to both for looking after us. Yes there is seaweed on the beach but they work hard to clean it up daily, it didn’t bother us but if it does this is not the hotel for you. We did the free shopping trip to Playa Del Carmen - don’t bother! More time on the bus than in the town. Pay for a cab and do it at your own leisure. Puerto Morelos is a lovely little town about an hours walk along the beach but they tried to sell us tequila at nearly £400 a bottle so be careful! Would I stay here again? Yes, in a heartbeat!

Hotel is a bit tired & tatty but the staff are amazing & do the best they can. Various electrics in the room didn’t work, reported & not fixed. Beds old & uncomfortable. Food is great on the whole, esp Marina, Japanese & buffet. Don’t do the timeshare meeting with the hotel - absolute con for anyone on a different continent & were very pushy. Diving team onsite were very good. Be aware that everything water based has added tax - all sea trips, diving, etc. Xplor at night is a great trip with teenagers. It’s the day-to-day staff at this hotel that make it a good holiday - they work so hard & are incredibly helpful. Important to give small tips regularly if you can.
